Tide window: Low tide was 9:22 AM — the land bridge is accessible until approximately 12:30 PM today. If you arrive after 12:30 PM, the bridge will be submerged. In that case, skip to the Shore Path and schedule Bar Island for Day 3 morning (low tide at 11:04 AM). Check NOAA tide charts to confirm.
If you land early enough: walk across the exposed ocean floor to Bar Island. Start crossing no later than 1.5 hours after low tide. ~1 hour round trip including exploration.
Ice cream at Mount Desert Island Ice Cream (try wild blueberry), souvenir shops, waterfront park.
Pick your own lobster from the live tank. Wood-fired pizza and burgers for the 10-year-old. Waterfront deck. Open Sun 11 AM–10 PM.
0.75-mile waterfront path behind the Bar Harbor Inn. Golden hour starts ~7:15 PM. Sunset at 8:11 PM. Bring a jacket — temps drop to low 60s by the water.
Guided paddle along MDI's coast — sea caves, seal colonies, seabird nesting islands. Dress in layers — 55–60°F on the water even in July. Most outfitters depart 7:30 or 8:30 AM. Book the 7:30 AM slot to free up the afternoon.
Sand Beach south past Thunder Hole → Monument Cove → Otter Cliffs. Mostly flat. Thunder Hole: high tide at 4:27 PM — best effect 2 hrs before, so arrive at Thunder Hole by 2:15 PM. Do the walk south, then time your return to hit Thunder Hole on the way back. You can shorten to 2.5 miles by turning around at Monument Cove.
Since 1893. Popovers with butter and jam on the lawn overlooking The Bubbles. Also lobster stew. Open Mon 11 AM–5 PM (last seating 4:30). Reservation via OpenTable. 8 min drive from Sand Beach parking.
Loop around Jordan Pond. Iconic Bubbles views. Shaded, family-friendly. ~1.5 hours at moderate pace.

⚠ Fog check the night before. If fog is predicted, skip sunrise and sleep in. Drive up at 7:00 PM instead for golden hour (starts 7:10 PM, sunset at 8:08 PM).
Requires vehicle reservation from Recreation.gov.
Breakfast, nap, recharge. Morning yoga at Terramor (check schedule) or stretch at lodging.

For the two of you without the 10-year-old. Iron rungs, ladders, exposed cliff edges at 450+ ft. Exhilarating scramble with ocean views. NPS says "not intended for children." Drop the kid at Echo Lake Beach (lifeguards, 12 min drive) or a ranger program, then tackle the Beehive. ~1 hr 15 min. Trailhead at Sand Beach lot.
Alternative intense option: Precipice Trail (1.6 mi, iron rungs on vertical cliff) — but frequently closed May–Aug for peregrine falcon nesting. Check trail closures before going.
Freshwater lake, much warmer than the ocean (65–70°F vs 55°F). Lifeguards on duty. Easy entry. West side of MDI, 20 min from Bar Harbor. Great recovery after Beehive or as main afternoon activity.

Easy out-and-back to a rocky beach. Quiet, rarely crowded before 9 AM. A gentle farewell to Acadia. Low tide at 12:53 PM — tide pools won't be prime yet, but the rocky beach is beautiful at any tide.
